Sametta Brown was named the Chief Executive Officer of the New Beginnings Schools Foundation in October, 2012. She has more than 30 years of experience in public education as an administrator and classroom teacher. Most recently, Brown served as executive director of human resources for the Recovery School District (New Orleans). She was responsible for managing all human resources functions including employee registration, policies and relations, discipline, administration, benefits, internal investigations, payroll records and time keeping compliance.
Brown previously served as RSD’s IDEA coordinator, where she led a team of special education specialists who provided direct services to schools. Prior to joining RSD, Brown was a program specialist with New Orleans Public Schools, responsible for the placement for students with disabilities. She is a former classroom teacher who taught special education in Louisiana and Alabama.
Brown earned her M.S. in Special Education from Alabama A&M University. She received a certification as an Educational Diagnostician from the University of New Orleans and a M.A. Plus 30 in Educational Administration from Xavier University.
