Sarah has worked as an education journalist for the last 14 years. Her book, Hope Against Hope, tells the story of the New Orleans schools after Hurricane Katrina through the eyes of those most affected by the dramatic education changes. Sarah now leads an education reporting fellowship called The Teacher Project at the Columbia Graduate School of Journalism and serves as a contributing editor at the Hechinger Report. She has written for the Atlantic magazine, the New York Times, the Nation magazine, the Wilson Quarterly, Slate, New Orleans public radio and several other news outlets.
