Katrina Bulkley

Professor of Educational Leadership, Montclair State University

Katrina Bulkley is professor of educational leadership at Montclair State University. She studies issues around the increasing use of new governance structures and private organizations to improve public education. She is particularly interested in urban education and districts that predominately serve historically marginalized communities, and in the role of leaders at the system and school levels in these districts. Alongside longstanding research on charter schools, a major focus of her current work is on "portfolio management models" in large urban districts and the proliferation of schools that are not directly managed by school districts (such as charter schools and privately-managed but publicly-funded schools).
