Based at Tulane Uni­ver­si­ty, we are one of the most wide­ly cit­ed sources for research on the New Orleans school reforms and school choice broad­ly. With our focus on objec­tive, rig­or­ous, and use­ful analy­sis, our work has a real impact on local and nation­al pol­i­cy con­ver­sa­tions. Ulti­mate­ly, our hope is to improve the qual­i­ty and equi­ty of edu­ca­tion expe­ri­ences for all stu­dents. To accom­plish these goals, we are look­ing for excel­lent can­di­dates to be the next Com­mu­ni­ca­tions Man­ag­er for both ERA-New Orleans and our part­ner cen­ter, the Nation­al Cen­ter for Research on Edu­ca­tion Access and Choice (REACH). Com­mu­ni­ca­tions Man­ag­er As a research orga­ni­za­tion, how we com­mu­ni­cate our results is cen­tral. Through our part­ners, the com­mu­ni­ty, and media, we com­mu­ni­cate in a grow­ing num­ber of ways: pol­i­cy briefs sum­ma­riz­ing the con­clu­sions and impli­ca­tions of our work, research pre­sen­ta­tions for prac­ti­tion­ers, small-group meet­ings with edu­ca­tors, and release events for our reports. We are look­ing for a com­mu­ni­ca­tions pro­fes­sion­al to orga­nize and lead meet­ings with part­ners, com­pose and edit reports and oth­er exter­nal com­mu­ni­ca­tions, man­age our media pres­ence (includ­ing web sites, Twit­ter feeds, and Face­book pages), and gen­er­al­ly help com­mu­ni­cate our research find­ings so they are use­ful to pol­i­cy­mak­ers, prac­ti­tion­ers, and the com­mu­ni­ty. In addi­tion to car­ry­ing out research on the above top­ics, the suc­cess­ful can­di­date will teach one course at the under­grad­u­ate lev­el annu­al­ly and is expect­ed to par­tic­i­pate active­ly in research, sem­i­nars, and oth­er activ­i­ties at the Eco­nom­ics Depart­ment and the Mur­phy Insti­tute.
