Statement of Solidarity against Racial Violence, Injustice, and Inequality

June 12, 2020

The Education Research Alliance for New Orleans stands in support of those across the nation who are demanding an end to racial violence, injustice, and inequality.

The murders of Ahmaud Arbery, Breonna Taylor, George Floyd, and many other Black individuals have brought the U.S. to a national reckoning over historic and ongoing racial inequities not only with regards to policing and criminal justice but also across all aspects of our society. These issues are inextricably tied to racial inequities within the education system. We believe that Black lives matter. In the coming months, we will convene our team and board to reflect on our mission and how we pursue it, identify concrete steps we at ERA-New Orleans can take toward increasing racial justice, and communicate our plan of action to the community so that we can be held accountable for our goals. As an organization, we are committed to listening, learning, and engaging in the work necessary to help create a just and equitable present and future. Douglas N.
