Jerome Jupiter
Deputy Director, Youth Empowerment Project
Jerome is an educator who has over 15 years experience working with children, youth, and adults in New Orleans. At YEP, he has been instrumental in developing successful relationships and partnerships with institutions such as the Louisiana Community and Technical College System, the criminal justice system, prisoner re-entry initiatives, the business community and substance abuse and mental health programs. Prior to working at YEP, Jerome was the coordinator of The Bridge Project, a workforce development program that assisted the un- and under employed by providing job-readiness training as well as basic skills instruction. This initiative was designed to help its participants overcome barriers to employment and establish career paths that would allow them to earn livable wages. Jerome is also a former elementary and middle school teacher and coach. He served as an adjunct English Instructor at Delgado Community College. In 2007, Jerome initiated
